Mrs. Hope Tzagournis, our School counselor will be our CARE teacher this year. CARE stands for Care and Respecting Others. She will meet with us 6-7 times throughout the year and lead us in lessons to help develop healthy relationships with our friends. Our first session is later in September. Check back here for a summary of what we learned and talked about in class!
October CARE meeting
Mrs. T. came to our classroom this week to talk about her favorite word...KINDNESS! She read us a story called Have You filled a Bucket Today? The story is a very popular one for teaching little ones (and big ones) that our kind act have a way of making ourselves and others feel good! We practice acts of kindness daily and and give a 'shout out' when we see and hear things that friends do for each other!!!
November CARE meeting
Mrs. T was here again this week to talk about tattle tales. Every one does it to some degree while they are young, but her focus was on being able to tell the difference between tattling and reporting needed information. She read a cute book called A Bad Case of the Tattle Tongue by Julia Cook. In it were strategies to help differentiate between the two.
1. Be a Danger Ranger- if a person or animal is in danger you must TELL someone.
2. Be a Problem Solver-
3. Now or Later- is the problem a now problem or can it wait until later
4. MYOB- if the problem is not dangerous and it does not involve you...do not tattle.
